A few words about lemurs:
Lemurs are primates found only on the island of Madagascar and a few nearby islands. They have evolved in Madagascar’s unique environment and are endemic to the region, living in habitats ranging from rainforests to dry scrublands.
Lemurs are known for their large eyes, adapted for nocturnal life (though some species are active during the day), and their long, often ringed tails, which aid in balance and communication. They have keen senses of smell compared to other primates and are typically social animals, living in groups called troops.
Interestingly, in some species — such as the ring-tailed lemur — females are dominant over males. The word lemur comes from Latin, meaning “ghost” or “spirit,” a reference to their nocturnal habits and reflective eyes.
